Our Artists
SAMRAN
Samran is one of the most senior artists in the Kata/Karon collective. He was born in the province of Nachon Si Thammarat near Krabi, and still has a mother who lives there. He is married to Min, with one boy child, nicknamed Pet, with another on the way. They are both hoping for a girl. When he finished school, he went to art college for 3 years in the Nachon Si Thammarat area.
He started a gallery in Karon about 10 years, and 3 years ago, opened another in Kata.
Being a devout Buddhist, he believes his faith affects the spirit of his Buddha paintings, and he knows that customers also like these too. He has an extremely good eye for combining colours and textures, and his attention to detail shows in his art. He has recently begun painting abstracts and likes the way this style enables a different outlet for expressing emotion.
He can also paint the classical Thai paintings (common in temples and around ancient buildings in Thailand) and loves the opportunity to do these when requested.
He thinks that if he were not painting, he would be in nature, and likes to draw inspiration for his colours and textures for his art from its trees and flowers.
He believes when a Painted Lotus customer buys a Buddha painting, it is good for their life and their family and it is also good for his life.
“I love painting, and I like that I can make a living from it and please people at the same time.”
